EtG Calculator
Calculate Urine Alcohol Levels & Elimination Time
Calculator Tool
*This result is an estimation for educational purposes only. EtG levels depend on individual liver function, hydration, and genetics. Do not rely on this tool for legal or court-ordered testing.
If you are facing an employment screening or legal test, understanding Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) is essential. Unlike a breathalyzer that detects current impairment, an EtG test looks into the past to detect alcohol consumption that occurred days ago.
Our EtG calculator helps you estimate the likelihood of a positive test result based on how much you drank and the time elapsed. It serves as a reliable urine alcohol level calculator for educational purposes.
How to Use the EtG Test Calculator
To get the best estimate for your EtG elimination time, follow these steps:
- Drinks Consumed: Enter the total standard drinks (12oz beer, 5oz wine, or 1.5oz liquor).
- Time Elapsed: Input hours passed since your last sip.
- Metabolism: Choose "Average" unless you know you have a specifically fast or slow metabolic rate.
- Test Sensitivity: Select 500 ng/mL (common for jobs) or 100 ng/mL (common for probation).
What is an EtG Test?
EtG is a metabolite of ethanol. When alcohol breaks down in the liver, a small portion binds with glucuronic acid to form EtG. This compound is water-soluble and is eliminated through urine.
The key difference between EtG and BAC is the window of detection:
- BAC (Blood Alcohol): Returns to zero within 12-24 hours.
- EtG (Urine Alcohol): Detectable for up to 80 hours (approx. 3.5 days), though 24-48 hours is typical for moderate drinking.
The "80 Hour" Rule vs. Reality
While often called the "80-hour test," testing positive after 3 days usually requires heavy binge drinking. For light to moderate drinking, the calculate EtG elimination time is often much shorter.
EtG has a half-life of roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. This means every 3 hours, the level of EtG in your body drops by 50%. Our EtG calculator app uses this biological decay formula to estimate your current ng/mL count.
EtG Levels Chart (Estimation)
- 1 Drink: Clear in approx. 12-16 hours.
- 3-5 Drinks: Clear in approx. 24-48 hours.
- Heavy Binge: Can remain positive for 72+ hours.
Factors Affecting Your Results
No free EtG calculator is 100% perfect. Your actual results depend on:
- Hydration: Dilution can lower EtG concentration.
- Liver Health: A healthy liver clears toxins faster.
- Frequency: Daily drinkers eliminate EtG slower than occasional drinkers.
