How to Use the Palworld Breeding Calculator

Use the left Pal selector to choose your Parent Pals. You can search by name, or filter by element, rarity, and maximum breeding power. Select Parent 1 by clicking a Pal, and select Parent 2 by Shift-clicking or clicking another Pal. The calculator uses the formula Floor((Parent 1 Power + Parent 2 Power + 1) ÷ 2) to determine the most likely offspring. Each potential child is displayed with an approximate probability of being born.

Understanding Breeding Mechanics

Every Pal in the game has a hidden "breeding power" value. Lower values typically indicate rarer or stronger Pals. When two Pals breed, the game calculates a target breeding power value based on the parents. The resulting offspring is the Pal whose own breeding power is closest to that target value. Up to four passive traits can be passed down randomly from the pool of traits available from both parents. Traits shared by both parents have a significantly higher chance of being inherited.

Advanced Breeding Strategies

The Reverse Breeding tool is perfect for when you have a specific target in mind. Select your desired Pal, and the tool will show you potential parent pairs that can produce it. The Chain Planner helps map multi-generation breeding strategies, allowing you to consolidate desirable traits step-by-step. To maximize your chances, always try to breed with parents that share the critical traits you want, as this boosts inheritance odds and reduces the number of eggs you'll need to hatch.

Comprehensive Breeding Guide

To begin breeding, you need a Breeding Farm (unlocked at Level 19) and Cake. A cake is crafted from 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, and 2 Honey. When you place a Cake in the farm's chest with a male and female Pal assigned, an egg will be produced. Incubation time depends on the egg type—Regular (10 mins), Large (1 hour), and Huge (2 hours). Environmental factors and future game updates may affect these mechanics, so always keep your dataset current.

Breeding Power Rankings (General Tiers)

Pals are generally grouped into tiers by their breeding power: Legendary (BP 1–150), Epic (151–400), Rare (401–900), and Common (901–1500). You can use common, high-BP Pals as "dialers" to adjust the target power when aiming for a specific offspring from a rare parent.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How does breeding work in Palworld?
A: You need a Breeding Farm, a male and a female Pal, and Cake. The offspring’s species is determined by a formula that averages the parents' hidden breeding power values, and the game selects the Pal with the closest matching power.

Q: How are passive traits inherited?
A: Up to four passive traits may transfer from the combined pool of both parents. Shared traits have a higher chance of passing down to the offspring.

Q: Which Pals are best for base work breeding?
A: Ideal worker Pals include Anubis (Handiwork/Mining), Digtoise (Mining), Lyleen (Planting/Medicine), Verdash (Gathering/Lumbering), and Wumpo Botan (Transporting). Use the calculator to breed these with work-enhancing traits like Artisan, Serious, and Work Slave.
